Day 7

Friday 8/29/08
Whitefish - Bigfork

Time Traveled: 5.5 hours
Distance: 48.96 miles

Food Eaten: Huckleberry raspberry pie & muffin, Mayan Mocha, nut honey & fruit trail mix, apple crisp granola bar, shared French onion soup, bread, shared shrimp w/risotto & veggies, corn

Today's ride started out deliciously sweet with a trip to Loula's in search of huckleberry pie for breakfast. The bus boy saw my drawing from the day before when we had lunch there and told me he thought it was cool. "It looks just like you guys!" That made me smile.

Next, came a trip to Montana Coffee Traders for a couple of espresso drinks and more ground coffee for the road. A few conversations with passerbys later and we were out of the busy city and into the beautiful back roads in rolling farmlands. We knew it was going to be a long ride and it began to show after about 3 or 4 hours on the saddle. My butt hurt like nothing else and it became more and more difficult to ride.

Finally, after 5.5 hours, we arrived in the resort town of Big Fork. Food was what we were after when we went to the town's most fancy shmancy restaurant by accident. A shared entree and soup was good enough to meet our needs and we got our stinky selves out of there. It wasn't long before we were set up in our new campground overlooking the impressive Flathead Lake.
